DESIGN GOALS

Evaluation criteria:
• Conceptual Design and Program fulfillment: how the project’s vision has met the requirements
• Integration of green design strategies and applicability to LEED™ criteria
• Creativity in process, design and innovation
• Engagement of environmental, economic, and social aspects of program and site
• Consideration of the historic nature of the existing site

Assumptions/Considerations:
• Within the site boundaries indicated, the project must be designed to accommodate the indoor program components listed. The project site is limited to the NY State Pavilion. The Pavilion consists of three main components:
o The elliptical plaza measuring 350 feet by 250 feet surrounded by 16 steel columns (each one hundred feet high)
o The three observation towers measuring 90, 185 and 250 feet tall
o A circular theater, 100-foot diameter, known as the Circarama, which sits along the towers.
• The structural integrity of the existing Pavilion components is assumed to be sound. The buildings must be renovated/reused not demolished.
• Outdoor facilities should be incorporated into the existing Park design and can extend outside the site boundaries.
• All designs will comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements.
